‘Ruler work’ in machine quilting is the use of thick acrylic templates to guide the machine needle for straight or curved quilting lines. The resulting designs can be simple or elaborate, but the templates help keep straight lines straight and curved lines smooth. It does take practice, practice, practice.
I recently gave a demo in a Florida quilt shop and will be doing more. Next month I will be at the Manchester, NH MQX Quilt Festival which runs April 6-9. My ruler work class is sold out, but there are lots of other great classes – and it isn’t ALL machine quilting. Take a look at their online catalog; you might find a great class!
