Have you ever tried to describe what you do
in 3 minutes or less? That was yesterday’s challenge for some 20 quilt teachers at the Meet the Teacher event at the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, MA.
I was pleased to have this opportunity to pitch my repertoire to an audience of quilt guild program planners. The catch was the time limit: Three minutes! Because of space, the teachers rotated in two groups, speaking to two different audiences. Meaning, we presented our our 3-minute pitch twice.
Even though I had scripted my talk and practiced, I ran out of time on the first go-round! It’s amazing how fast 3 minutes can fly. The second time I was determined to get in a couple of key points I hadn’t been able to say the first time. Now, I normally don’t talk very fast, but this time I talked so fast I lost my place in the script and spent valuable seconds trying to get back on track. Even so, I did get through most of what I wanted to say.
I wish 3 minutes went by that fast when I’m exercising!
