I’m enjoying a more laid back approach to making quilts these days. This one was guided by a pattern, but the stars are done any which way the quilt maker wants to make them. It’s quite liberating.
This one is different in another way. I wanted to make the background gray, but I had no appropriate cotton so I used some wool flannel I had in my stash. Gotta love that stash! Mine is multigenerational, but that’s another story.
Anyway, I figured since it’s a wallhanging, it won’t need to be washed and the wool/cotton combo shouldn’t be a problem. Quilting it could be another matter, but I’ll do that by machine so it shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll let you know. So, the reason this one is finished just in time? I wanted to show it at my ‘Star Gazing” lecture trunk show next Thursday at the AQS Syracuse Quilt Show. Join me if you can!
There are still some workshops open. More info at: http://www.quiltweek.com/syracuse/
